Butterfly Yarn by Hobbii [Yarn Review]
I’m working on my second project with Hobbii’s Butterfly yarn and frankly, I’m in love!
About Hobbii’s Butterfly Yarn
Hobbii Butterfly Yarn is a light worsted or DK yarn made from premium acrylic. It is available in 14 colorways, each with half a dozen distinct colors. The yarn is packaged in bullet skeins.
Butterfly retails for $21 per skein. Each bullet skein contains 547 yards (500 meters) of yarn and weighs in at 7.1 ounces.
The recommended needles and hooks for this yarn are US 6 (4.00 mm) or US 7 (4.50 mm) knitting needles and G-6 crochet hooks.
I used the yarn held doubled in both projects and it worked up nicely on US 9 (5.5 mm) knitting needles.
Pros
Hobbii Butterfly has a great hand feel and is not a bit scratchy, despite being made of 100% acrylic. It is very soft and smooth.
All of the colors are beautifully coordinated. The transitions between colors is subtle and color changes are long. It is perfect for gradient projects.
Cons
The yarn has to be ordered, which means you’re taking a gamble on the true color as well as the feel. While I found both to my liking, other fiber artists might be disappointed.
I found that shipping took quite a while (to the US).
Overall
I love to try new yarns, to shop around and sample the newest, prettiest, and softest. A lot of yarn stays in my stash for longer than I think it will, but I’ve used up all of my Hobbii Butterfly yarn as soon as I’ve gotten it!
I felt like I really hit the jackpot. No wonder it has a 5.0/5.0 rating on Hobbii’s website!
