Recommended Yarn:
120 yards of Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in Rose Pink
40 yards of Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in Country Red
Needles:
US #8/5.00 mm

Abbreviations
BO – bind off
CC – contrast color
CO – cast on

Pattern
The kitchen towel is worked back and forth from the bottom up in Stockinette Stitch. Contrasting color yarn is carried behind. (For the single stitch falling heart rows, carry contrasting yarn to the end of the row, then snip. On the next row, start anew.)
A border of garter stitch helps prevent curling.
Notes
The body is worked with 3 sts of garter stitch on either side.

When instructed to work even:
RS – k all
WS – k3, p to last 3 sts, k3
Setup
CO 60 sts in MC.
K 4 rows. Garter stitch border is now established.
Body
Contrasting color is in bold typeface.
Rows 1 and 2 – work even
Row 3 – Falling Hearts Row A (RS)
Rows 4 and 5 – work even
Row 6 – k3, p to last 3 sts, k3
Rows 7 to 16 – Large Heart
Row 17 – k3, k to last 3 sts, k3
Work 2 rows even, then work Falling Hearts Row A.
Work 3 rows even, then work Falling Hearts Row B.
Work 4 rows even, then work Falling Hearts Row A.
Work 5 rows even, then work Falling Hearts Row B.
Continue in this manner, adding one row to the evenly worked section each time and alternating between Falling Hearts Row A and B.
End with the last row of an evenly worked section.
Finishing
K 4 rows in MC. BO all sts.
Weave in ends. Block lightly if desired.
