Main Street Pub in Clifton, Virginia

The Main Street Pub is a classic Irish pub in downtown Clifton, Virginia. We enjoyed the classic pub ambiance and the food will have us coming back for more.

The exterior of the Main Street Pub is unassuming. The landmark Texaco tower and simple “Clifton Store” sign mark the building. Only the few outdoor tables hint that there’s a restaurant inside.

In the front of the pub, you’ll find the Clifton General Store, a small area of the shop that has sold staples in Clifton for over 75 years. The general store section of the pub offers an assortment of snacks, drinks, gifts, and t-shirts.

Making our way to the back, we noticed how small the Main Street Pub actually is. There are about half a dozen tables and even fewer bar stools. Our family of five took up a good portion of the dining room! I learned that this minimal setup works well when the pub features live music.

We were greeted quickly and a friendly server took our order. The menu features standard pub fare. The prices were reasonable, especially in a boutique town like Clifton. There were only a few patrons in the pub, but we were still surprised at how quickly we received our food.

The adults ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and a Cubano with tots. The buffalo chicken sandwich was delicious, though admittedly it’s hard to mess up a fried hunk of chicken in classic buffalo sauce. The Cuban sandwich was also delicious, seasoned well and toasted till crispy.

The kids stuck with standard kids’ menu fare: a grilled cheese sandwich, chicken tenders, and macaroni and cheese. All three were served with fries and the children raved about them. They were lightly battered and seasoned and I can confirm they were delicious!

Kids’ meals also include “Bug Juice,” which the kids enjoyed selecting from the cooler.
