Inside Red Fox Yarns

Red Fox Yarns is a small shop that is overflowing with gorgeous yarn. It’s relatively new — about five years old — though it replaced another local yarn shop in Vienna. Though events have been suspended due to COVID, the shop is still open.

When we visited, the shop had strict limits on how many could enter at one time. We waited only a moment at the door to be let in, but it could quickly reach capacity on a busy weekend morning. (Considering the shop’s size, the limit seems quite reasonable.)

When my daughter and I visited this shop, we were the only ones in the shop. We really enjoyed our private shopping experience!

I happy to find my favorite needle brand, ChiaoGoo, in the needles and notions section. I found a handful of locally-dyed yarns among the selections.

We found quite a few foxes around the shop, too! CJ, the owner, loves red foxes and many from her collection decorate the few available spaces in the shop. Her warm and friendly service was the best part of our visit.

The shop is neatly organized by yarn weight, which made it easy for me to find exactly what I was looking for.

I purchased several skeins of DK yarn for a baby blanket: Plymouth Encore DK in cream, blue, greens, and yellows. The price point was excellent! [Here’s what I made with them!]
