Needles:
US #13/9.00 mm

Sizing:
20″ to 25″ circumference

BO – bind off
CO – cast on
k – knit

p – purl
p2tog – purl 2 stitches together; single stitch decrease
PM – place marker
ssk – slip 2 stitches knitwise, knit these 2 stitches together through back loops; single left-leaning decrease

Pattern

This cap is worked in the round from the brim up.

The oversized needles and inward ribbing incorporate significant stretch.

Setup

CO 48 sts. PM and join for working in the round, taking care not to twist.

Ribbed Brim

Work 8 rounds of 2 x 2 ribbing (*k2, p2*).

Body

1 – *k10, p2* to end
Work this row until the hat measures 6.5″ from the cast-on edge.

7 – *ssk, k2tog, p2* [16 sts]
8 – *k2, p2*
9 – *k2tog, p2tog* [8 sts]

Snip yarn and draw through remaining stitches.

Finishing

Create pompom and secure to top.

Weave in ends. Block if desired.
