The Flying Needles has closed.
🧶 This visit is part of The Ultimate Virginia Yarn Crawl.
The Shop
The shop opened in October 2016 and is owned by Susan Dickerson.
Unfortunately she wasn’t there when I visited, but the shop had several employees, all friendly and eager to help.
The immediate vibe of the store is bold, but warm. The couches in the front of the shop were a cozy touch; one knitter had already made himself at home there and was working steadily.
I was pleased to find a wall of local yarn! As I was browsing, the adorable upcycled project and notions bags (some with “PG-13” remarks) in the back also caught my eye.
I settled on a couple of beautiful blue skeins for an upcoming project of my own design.
As you can see, they have a great selection of yarns. The environment was so welcoming, too. I’ll definitely be back.
Good to Know
The Flying Needles offers one entry into a monthly $25.00 gift certificate drawing for each purchase you make… if you bring your own bag. (I clearly didn’t do my research.)
Events at The Flying Needles
The Flying Needles is currently participating in the LYS Smackdown, a finished object competition between five shops. You can find out more information on their Facebook page.
In a few weeks, they’re also hosting a charter bus trip to Rhinebeck for the 2019 New York Sheep and Wool Festival. More information is available on their website.
