Haymarket Coffee Company in the Haymarket Museum
Welcome to the Haymarket Museum in the Town of Haymarket, Virginia! This lovely building is located right in the heart of Historic Haymarket and is one of only two buildings to survive fires that destroyed most of the town over 200 years ago. It’s also home to the Haymarket Coffee Company!
When we stopped by to learn about local history, we were surprised by what we found inside…
A small Virginia coffee company, Haymarket Coffee Company serves its coffee right inside the Haymarket Museum! I hadn’t heard of Haymarket Coffee Company, but while enjoying a cup, I learned that the company sources its coffee beans from a single farm in El Salvador and focuses mostly on at-home delivery.
The Haymarket Museum is one of a handful of places that serve this coffee in-person!
It was our first time in a museum-coffee shop hybrid and it was a great mashup.
A big, red caboose is what first drew us to the old town hall building and former schoolhouse. We saw they were open and parked outside. When I opened the car door, I could immediately smell the coffee brewing! I knew we were in the right place.
I had my favorite: black iced coffee. It was strong and smooth.
Of course, my grade schoolers aren’t coffee drinkers (yet). They opted for flavored lemonade. The mango came out on top, but both were delicious!
Then we poked around the museum, checking out the artifacts while we sipped our beverages and enjoyed the air conditioning and cool leather couches.
The building dates back to the 1880s and its bell tower is still active. Our barista encouraged the kids to venture upstairs and give the rope a tug. It took a bit of work, but they finally got it going!
If you’re in the area, it’s worth a few minutes of your time to pop into this shop and explore the local history. It’s served with coffee!
