The Riverside Mill & Market at Port Orleans Riverside
The Riverside Mill & Market is Port Orleans Riverside‘s quick service dining hall and is currently the only option for dining at the resort. I recently had a fun and filling dinner in this no-frills dining room!
Housed in a cotton mill, this food court American foods at multiple stations.
Above the large, rustic dining space, rods and gears turn, powered by the river wheel outside. I could hear it gently clacking as I ate my dinner!
Dinner
This was my first time at Riverside Mill & Market and I was a bit overwhelmed by the options, especially since it all looked and smelled good! The five stations are the grill, sandwich shop, pizza and pasta station, bakery, and a specialty station. I decided to go with something that could showcase this resort’s unique qualities.
After checking all the options, I found there were a handful of items that were likely unique to this resort. Many featured pimento cheese and, because I’m not a fan of mayonnaise, I went with the jambalaya. I figured it best represented Port Orleans!
It wasn’t the best jambalaya I’ve ever had (because I’ve been to New Orleans proper), but it was good and quite filling. It didn’t have much kick overall, but the sausage did have some. I grabbed some crushed red pepper from the condiment bar to spice it up. It worked well!
Dessert
None of the dessert options at Riverside Mill & Market really scream “New Orleans,” so instead I opted for the 50th Anniversary Dessert and I wasn’t disappointed.
This dessert was a sparkling golden dome decorated with sprinkles and a chocolate medallion. I’m not sure what the gelatinous golden layer is made of, but inside I found raspberry cheesecake. Chunks of almond cookie served as the base, though they were sprinkled throughout. If I had to nitpick, I’d ask for more of this cookie at the bottom.
The 50th Anniversary Dessert had a lot of flair, but also a lot of flavor!
Drinks
At checkout, I picked up the 50th Celebration Resorts Refillable Mug. The cost of the mug covered all of my coffee, soda, and tea for the length of my stay. I also love the design! These mugs are some of my favorite Disney resort souvenirs.
Port Orleans Riverside has standard fountain dispensers with Coke products, a faux iced tea urn that dispenses Gold Peak, and urns of Joffrey’s Coffee.
