Visit the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival with Me

I just returned from the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival! I can’t wait to share my day with you.

Fiber festivals are where I found my love of knitting. I’d been knitting for years before I went to one, but I hadn’t yet connected with anyone or used any hand-dyed yarn, hand-spun yarn, or hand-crafted tools.

It only took one fiber festival and I was hooked! Fiber festivals are the perfect intersection of creativity and shopping small. I love choosing something that someone else made and making something with it, especially if you get to hear its story or inspiration. It’s a perfect circle of creativity and there’s something so human about it all.

Fiber festival season is here again and the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival is back… in person! I spent my day perusing the various colorways and wares, plus chatting up the dyers, crafters, and other artisans. I’m not ashamed to admit I took some sheep and goat selfies, too! It felt so good to return.

Notable Vendors

The Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival is a huge event, drawing over 100 vendors. They all had something I’d love to take home, but I only got a pictures of a few!

Plan Your Visit

If you’re planning on attending the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival, my #1 tip is to arrive early. I was there close to opening (10:00AM) and found a parking spot very close to the main entrance. There were no crowds till a few hours later, so it was much easier to navigate through the tents and barns. I also got first dibs on the merchandise!
